If your gif is under 2MB (IIRC), you can upload it the normal way when asking or answering a question, by clicking on the image icon, drag and drop, or by pressing CtrlG. If it's larger, then you will need to use another hosting service, e.g. gfycat (it's free, no registration required, and the images stay around "forever"). Once you have uploaded your ...

If you don't have the wherewithal to optimise an image prior to upload, here are a few tips on doing so directly on SE. After embedding an image to your post using the upload feature on the site, you should see an imgur URL similar to http://i.stack.imgur.com/FOSov.png (just using this as an example). This should result in a large image (190KB, a relatively ...

I have made a variant of the script posted by CoDEmanX with: Multi-char support A keyboard shortcut (CtrlY, if you think of a better available key, please comment) Optional key/mousebutton icons Support for reviewing/improving edits, answering own questions, etc. Undo support An icon Automatic extra space removal Example of usage: Tested on Firefox 59.0.2 ...

You cropped off the answer to your question. Let me explain. Look over at the sidebar under the heading "Favorite Tags." Those are tags you have marked as your favorites. SE then highlights any question tagged with one of them. This how it looks for me (you have different tags marked as your favorite). So to answer your question it is because you have ...

You can't directly delete a tag. The process to remove one (not having it appear as a suggestion) is that you untag it from any question(s) that it was attached to and the system will remove it after a while. IIRC.. the tag script runs daily so any orphaned tags (those not attached to a question) will automatically be removed provided no one uses it in that ...

Expanding on Roland's answer, you can accomplish that with the following Markdown: [![Click for Larger Version](http://example.com/img.jpg)](http://example.com/img.jpg) Example:

Outside of bounties, no. A bounty is what you are looking for. In fact "thanking him by giving some of my reputation" is one of the reasons for offering a bounty. Reward existing answer One or more of the answers is exemplary and worthy of an additional bounty. After you offer a bounty, there is a time block (24 hours) that you have to wait till you ...

Images and files don't carry the same weight here in my book. If someone added an image to a post asking for help with some problem using an external image hosting site I think it's fair to assume that... They are somewhat new to SE and don't know that they can upload images here They already shared the image knowing it would be viewed by random strangers ...

"Legal" yes, I guess so, but it is off topic and would get closed. Job offers are off topic. We get maybe one a month or so, and they quickly get closed, and directed to blender artists' job section. So to save you from quickly getting your "question" really a job offer DVed and closed, just post on BA, its linked above.

First off please calm down. There can never be rational and useful discussion when people are shouting about the site being full of haters. It sounds like you already made up your mind about this site (never good, full of haters, a mockery etc.) Thing I'm curious about is if you really do not like this site as much as it seams why keep using it? Maybe ...

Thanks iKlsR, I created a Greasemonkey script based on your code, which inserts a new button automatically: // ==UserScript== // @name Add <kbd> Button to StackExchange Toolbar // @namespace http://blender.org // @include *.stackexchange.com/* // @version 1 // @grant none // ==/UserScript== var toolbar; function toolbar_wait() {...

There are 490 moderator across all the SE sites. (so you are bound to see a diamond or two.) Yet only the three BSE mods (gandalf3, iKlsR, and me) and SE employees will have diamonds attached to our name on this site. The three users you linked to are employees of SE (and have mod+ abilities on every site.) Oded is a dev at SE. Robert Cartaino is a ...

Look under the answer and press the Share button, it will give you a link with your unique userid attached at the end (for several reasons such as when you share links, the views can be attributed back to you for badges etc).

A bounty isn't a good answer generator. All a bounty does, is bring more attention to the question, and give a bit of incentive for it to be answered. For a question to be answered, it needs to be easy to understand, and it needs to have enough people who understand that part of Blender. A bounty will do absolutely nothing if the question it's self isn't ...

No, it's not necessary, as a matter of fact you are in agreement with what is generally (but not too strictly) considered extraneous noise on SE. If you feel like too many unexplained terms are flying about and you want more explanations, it can't really hurt to mention that you are an aspiring new user. But you are always more than welcome to ask for ...

First you can't privately contact a SE user. To get in touch with a mod you could: ping them in chat (both gandalf and I are always "pingable," did I just create a new word?, in there). It is ok if you don't want to say it in public, there are ways of creating a private chat room for serious issues. Write up some question on the meta explaining how you ...

From this post on Meta.SE: You [can be] banned from suggesting edits, either automatically because a large number of recent suggested edits by you were rejected, a moderator manually banned you, or you triggered the anonymous insta-ban filter. It appears that you fall under the first of these categories, "a large number of recent suggested edits by you ...

Thanks for posting here and bringing up the issue. It has come to our attention that many of your edits are limited to adding scattered bold formatting to random fragments of text. Bold formatting is often used for emphasis, highlighting or calling attention to important parts of text. It should be used sparingly, if everything is bold then the effect is ...

Right clicking and opening in a new tab is the usual way to do this. You can also make a copy of the autogenerated image link, and then encapsulate the image markup in link markup, using the image link as your destination URL.

This is just a bit different than Is it okay to ask for money donations in an answer? but not by much. There are a lot of intrinsic motivations for why people contribute their time and their knowledge to this site, but receiving payment or "tips" isn't one of them. While I appreciate the gesture, it really is not warranted or even particularly helpful to ...

Such a feature is not available in the formatting toolbar, you have to do it manually. I've often wanted the same feature as it is encouraged that posts be formatted correctly, especially input. My javascript is really, really rusty but I managed to throw something together that should save a bit of time (a few seconds at least ;) when doing this. Install ...

Community wiki questions don't accrue rep and have a lower full editing reputation threshold. Questions should be manually converted to community wiki when they are marginal fits or 'list of X' questions that contain enough value to avoid deletion. This affects the question and all answers. The main reason for CW is that these questions/answers can be ...

Update As of September 10, 2015 we are starting the community ads. Community Promotion Ads - 2015 Old answer for the beta site below. TL;DR Nope Beta sites on the SE network do not get community ads, only full sites. In response to the popularity of that program, we've extended this vote based advertising program to all the public Stack Exchange ...

I use to flag using the custom reason with something as simple as "Link only answer." As a mod now, that would be great. Just so you know among the three general flag types: not an answer very low quality in need of moderator intervention which of those you use does not make much of a difference. Those three are all handled the same way by us mods. ...

I'm the guy who wrote the code for blend-exchange and operates it. The issue has been resolved, thanks for posting this message so I could be notified. The issue was caused by a crashed database due to a ram shortage on my server. This is usually caused by Denial of Service (DoS) attack on the server that hosts blend-exchange. I'm going to do an in-depth ...

Like this: RMB <kbd>![RMB][RMB] RMB</kbd> [RMB]: http://i.stack.imgur.com/LPwD4.png (Right Mouse Button) The mouse icon is simply an image, embedded via markdown syntax just like any other image. I and some other users have written a userscript which allows these and other <kbd> buttons to be inserted with a single keyboard ...

Kind of. Reputation isn't shared between sites, but once you've earned 200 reputation on one SE site, you automatically receive an "association bonus" of 100 reputation on any SE site. This includes sites you are already a part of (including the site where you earned the 200 reputation), and sites you join later.

Replace them. Aside from the obvious dead-links-are-bad thing, many external images are not accessible over https. Soon only https images will be allowed, and non-imgur http links will have to be manually converted (assuming they aren't already dead). There is already an ongoing effort to change these on SO. In addition, most images here are screenshots, ...

Stack Exchange doesn't have this functionality well handled yet (notifications of other people's stuff), so here is what you can do (and what I do): Mark questions favorite (little star below up/down count). This adds them into list under your profile > activity > favorites. The list is public. Bookmark questions (or answers copying their share url) into ...
