The rant Unlike the bullies at your boarding college, blender.SE mods and users are transparently accountable for what they do and those points, bells and whistles vanish if the site gets discontinued. It's in no-one's interest to behave like a bully or make people feel dumb. At the same time also your contribution is there for everyone to see and judge. ...

Speaking just about the linked question, yes you absolutely could of edited out the cycles tag (I went and did it). That question has noting to do with any rendering, it is a modeling question. Now when a question is closed as a dup, even when it was gold tag closed, you editing the question will not change that. (Except in some cases it will go through the ...

This seems to be focused towards myself (since everyone else involved was thanked). I fully expected the links included in my comment to be sufficient for you to understand and fix the issue. Bullying was certainly not the intention — I visit this site only to help create a knowledge base for the community. Please don't ask question you don't care about, ...

This was probably a minor blunder on the part of the person who closed it (me). It was the closest one related to that question when I searched using the close as duplicate dialog so I opted to close it as a duplicate of that specific one rather than the first question (Duplicate objects transformation applies to both objects) which I did not notice at the ...

It's a good idea to keep closed questions around. They help show the community ...

I understand you want to get this sorted and you're probably frustrated with this process. The message you are seeing on your question is slightly misleading and I understand why you asked the question again. A closed question is not hidden from anyone and it can be voted to be reopened by users who have enough reputation (not just moderators). Drop the ...

The fate of the original question aside… the best way to handle this is edit the original question to add (back) enough of the original context so your question can stand on its own. That sort of inter-post dependency works better in a threaded discussion forum, but as the content of this site is always expected to be updated and changed, it is best ...

I think the problem lies in what question is chosen when a question is closed voted as a duplicate. We should not close vote a question and link to a another close voted question. Instead we should link the the parent question, the one that all the duplicates should link to. We should avoid the Duplicate chains when close voting a question.
